Half Vollering does not intend to change to win. Arrival 2nd in the Tour de France this Sunday, August 3, the Dutch runner assured that she wanted to be an example for young girls, while warning dangers of extreme thinness.
Cycling is a sport where the weight counts more than elsewhere, especially when you want to be able to compete when the road rises, as all the contenders owe a victory on the Tour de France. Half Vollering, 2nd in the 2025 edition, hopes to show “that you should not be super thin to win”.

This thinness, supposedly essential, sometimes represents a danger to the health of the runners, as Cédrine Kerbaol had put it forward, graduated in dietetics, earlier during the event. “I could also lose weight, but I don’t want to be extremely meager. We discussed the possibility of losing a little weight, but when I fell ill during the Tour de Switzerland, the most important was to regain health,” said half a vollering side.
