Tour de France (F): Rousse interested in Montmartre

The Tour de France ended with a last Dantesque stage around the Butte Montmartre and rue Lepic. A craze shared by the runners who did not go unnoticed on the side of Marion Rousse, the patron of the large female loop.

A year after the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Montmartre Butte and the iconic rue Lepic were again “requisitioned” during the layout of the last stage of the Tour de France before a more traditional arrival on the Champs-Élysées. And the least we can say is that this change of approach was praised by the spectators and largely by the runners so that the organizers of the big loop very recently mentioned the idea of returning to it next year. Before seeing if they will reach their end, another race could also borrow this special route. Indeed, the Tour de France women is currently arguing and Marion Rousse, the owner of the event, was not insensitive to the idea of making the runners pass.

A different course

On RMC Sport, the French road champion in 2012 said she was interested in Montmartre. “It made me want because it was fabulous, it gave me chills to see so many people moving to acclaim the champions,” admitted red. Obviously it’s in a corner of my head. But again, it’s still beautiful to be able to finish in the mountains for us and on nine days of racing try to maintain the suspense. »» As the owner of the Tour de France women indicates, the large female loop does not weigh as much as that of men in number of stages (9 against 21). As a result, the organization must deal with the constraints while offering routes for all runners, whether the sneakers, the sprinters and obviously the climbers. For the time being, therefore, no change on the horizon but Marion Rousse will not close any door especially if the Tour de France women wins in number of stages in the years to come.
