The third tropical storm of the season would be formed. Details.
Chantal
It swarms in the tropics: a disturbance that can lead to a third tropical storm in the Atlantic is in development. If she became tropical storm, she would become Chantal. When writing these lines, she would only have 30 % of chance of being appointed over the next seven days. These chances may seem slim, but nothing is impossible in this hectic basin during the hurricane season, which lasts until November. If Chantal does not see the light of day this week, the system would still bring generous precipitation in the south-east of Florida.
One month in advance
The tropical system is currently off the Floridian peninsula. If Chantal is born, it would be born almost a month in advance. Normally, the third storm named of the season in the Atlantic basin occurs around August 3. Recall that Endrea and Barry, born on June 24 and 28 respectively, are the first two storms named of the year. At the same time, the east of the peaceful basin undergoes the wrath of the Hurricane of category 2 Flossia and a possible other tropical system is already on radars.
According to the NOAA, this season of hurricanes could be particularly active: experts believe that up to 19 named storms could train in the Atlantic. Among these, a dozen would have the potential to obtain hurricane status. Moreover, the first hurricane of the year generally occurs around August 11, when the waters of the basin are sufficiently warm.
