According to the representative council of Jewish institutions in France (CRIF), this increase is explained by the international context. “The point of comparison is the pre-7-October. We see that it leaves a lasting imprint on the question of anti-Semitism,” said Yonathan Arfi, president of CRIF, in an article The world Posted in January.

The number of anti -Semitic acts exploded from the attack on Hamas in Israel and the deployment of the army on the Gaza Strip in the fall of 2023. The theme of Palestine, omnipresent in political and public speeches, is a “catalyst of anti -Semitic acts”, according to CRIF.

Also according to the figures of the SPCJ, in 2024, 518 acts mentioned Palestine. A context criticized by the organization which deplores a demonization of the image of the Jews in France.

In addition, the figures presented take into account only the acts which have been the subject of a complaint. Acts of online or school violence have mostly settled outside the judicial sphere and therefore not counted.
