US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that the United States would send Patriot’s anti-aircraft defense to Ukraine to help him respond to Russian strikes, when his relations with the Russian president show degradation.
«We will send them patriots, which they desperately need, “said Donald Trump, two weeks after Washington announced the suspension of certain arms deliveries to kyiv.
“I have not yet decided on the number, but they will have it because they need protection,” he added.
The delivery of weapons will be part of an agreement involving NATO which will pay the United States for weapons it will send to Ukraine, according to Trump.
“We are actually sending them various very sophisticated military equipment and they will pay them 100%,” Donald Trump told journalists.
The American president repeated that he was “disappointed” by his Russian counterpart.
Donald Trump, who had at the start of his mandate attempted to convince Vladimir Putin to negotiate on the end of the conflict, again expressed his disappointment in view of the intense Russian strikes which continued to fall on Ukraine, constantly in sight.
“Putin really surprised a lot of people. He speaks gently and then he bombes everyone in the evening, “said Trump, visibly dissatisfied.
American emissary Keith Kellogg is due to start a new visit to Ukraine on Monday.
Donald Trump also specified that he would meet the secretary general of NATO, Mark Rutte on Monday, when he previously announced that he had “an important declaration to make on Russia”.
