Two Aboriginal cases of Chikungunya were detected in Dordogne, people reside in Bergerac. Their state of health does not inspire concerns according to the ARS.
In a press release, the ARS (Regional Health Agency), said that two Aboriginal cases of Chikungunya were detected in Dordogne, more precisely in Bergerac. Immediate measures have been implemented to limit any risk of spread. We are talking about indigenous cases when a person has contracted the disease on the national territory and has not traveled in the contaminated zone within fifteen days preceding the appearance of symptoms. As a reminder, chikungunya is transmitted from person to person, only through the bite of a mosquito (tiger mosquito present in metropolitan France) infected by the chikungunya virus. These new cases confirm that the chikungunya virus is circulating in New Aquitaine. It is the fourth indigenous transmission center identified in the region, after those of the Landes, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques and the Charente.
Avoid spreading
To avoid the propagation of the disease, Altopicus (the entomological follow -up operator of the Tiger mosquito in Dordogne) carried out demotication operations near the places frequented by the person in Bergerac. The objective is to eliminate larval lodges and adult mosquitoes that can transmit the virus. Residents of the sectors concerned were informed by a flyer placed in their mailbox. If the inhabitants have not received information in their mailbox, it is because their accommodation is not affected by these treatments.
A door investigation was carried out by ARS Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Public Health France, in collaboration with the town hall of Bergerac to identify people who have felt symptoms in previous weeks or who are currently presenting symptoms evocative of chikungunya (fever greater than 38.5 degrees, joint pain, rash, fatigue, muscular pain) and hold.
