Ghanaian Defense and Environment Ministers were killed on Wednesday in a helicopter accident, the presidency announced. The army reported the disappearance of a device carrying three crew members and five passengers, a few hours earlier.
(Keystone-ATS) The Minister of Defense, Edward Omane Boamah, and that of the environment, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, are among the victims of the crash, in the south of the country, said Julius Debrah, chief of staff to President John Mahama.
“The president and the government send their condolences and their solidarity to the families of our comrades and the soldiers who fell during their service for the nation,” said Julius Debrah.
Among the victims are also Alhaji Muniru Muhammad, deputy coordinator of national security and former Minister of Agriculture, as well as Samuel Sarpong, Vice-President of the Party National Democratic Congress (NDC) of President Mahama.
The Ghanaian Air Force reported earlier on Wednesday than a military helicopter disappeared from radars.
