The chase, started in Belgium, tragically ended on a departmental road in Moselle. Two people – a Belgian police officer and a man he was trying to arrest – were struck on Tuesday evening, shortly before 11 p.m., by another car, at Angevillers, learned 20 Minutes with gendarmes. The two victims died instantly.
According to the first elements of the investigation, three Belgian police cars were launched after a car suspected of being a Go-Fast-that is to say a car that is suitable for drugs-between France and Belgium. For “still unknown reason”, according to a source close to the investigation, the criminal vehicle suddenly immobilized on the D14 – about 40 kilometers from the Belgian border – and its two occupants tried to flee on foot.
Struck by a vehicle outside the case
One of the two was quickly arrested while the second was chased by a police officer, also on foot. It is during this pedestrian chase that the drama occurred. Another vehicle, completely outside the chase, struck the fugitive and the policeman. Both died instantly.
Belgian police confirmed to the RTBF, the death of this police officer “during an intervention on the D14 just beyond the French border”. France and Belgium are regularly led to cooperate in this kind of business and the police can cross the border when they are in pursuit of thugs.
