Ten minutes separate two road accidents that occupied 40 Landes firefighters, this Monday, July 21, 2025. At 3:31 p.m., they are sent to Losse for a face-to-face between two cars. At 3:41 p.m., their colleagues were asked in Josse, in the south of the department, for an accident between a truck and a car. One person died, one was helicoptered, six others were involved.
On the national 524, in Losse, a stone’s throw from Lot-et-Garonne, the state of the two cars reflects a shock of rare violence. In a vehicle, a woman, the driver, aged 73, did not survive. She was alone on board and would come from Gironde.
In the other vehicle, two people from Charente-Maritime. The 18 firefighters who moved with their six devices had to carry out a unearthed maneuver. The two occupants were evacuated in serious condition to the hospital, but their vital prognosis is not engaged this late afternoon on Monday.
The mayor of Losse, Bruno Lacoste, specifies: “It is not an accident-causing zone, on this portion of the road anyway. Ten minutes later, therefore, at 3:41 p.m., the firefighters at the other end of the department, south of Saint-Geours-de-Maremne, were called on the RD 33 before the entrance to the town of Josse, for a violent pileup which took place between a car and a heavyweight.
The four young occupants of the vehicle, aged in his twenties, are seriously injured. They were taken care of in absolute emergency by the emergency services. The driver of the truck came out unscathed from the accident, but, shocked, he was also rescued. An important device of firefighters was dispatched to the site. According to the press release from the departmental fire and rescue service of the Landes (SDIS 40), eight vehicles and 21 firefighters were called. A little before 4 p.m., a Samu helicopter went there to evacuate one of the victims.
