Le Figaro.- Since Sunday, fighting has agitated the region of djebel . Syrian president Ahmed al-Charaa announced yesterday the withdrawal of government troops and the transfer of local security to the Druzes. Is it a failed admission?
Cédric Labrousse.- This is his first admission of weakness since his arrival in power in December. Israeli pressures, via The air strike campaign, associated with American realignment in Israel, forced it. The United States had first condemned Israeli actions, but last night the US Department of State asked for the departure of the government troops from Soueida (the Southern Druze region of Syria, editor’s note).
