A Boeing 767 from the Delta Airlines company was forced to land urgently in Los Angeles on Friday, July 18, after a fire broke out on one of its reactors, reports the BBC.
Incidents accumulate for the manufacturer Boeing. As the BBC relates, a Boeing 767-400 was forced to return to Los Angeles airport after one of the engines caught fire shortly after takeoff. The plane of the Delta Airlines company was heading for Atlanta. “The Delta Flight 446 returned to Los Angeles shortly after his departure following an indication of an problem with the left aircraft engine,” a spokesperson for the airline to our colleagues.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the causes of the incident. If no injuries are to be deplored, several emergency services awaited on the Tarmac to support passengers from the device. This is the second engine fire in an American company Delta Air Lines since the start of 2025.
The reliability of Boeing aircraft more than ever called into question
This incident occurs less than a month after the Air India Boeing 787 crash which left 260 dead. Since then, India has ordered the inspection of fuel supply switches from all Boeing aircraft registered on its soil. An investigation is underway to determine whether or not the causes of the crash relate to a voluntary act of the captain.
