At least eleven people were injured after being stabbed on Saturday in a Michigan supermarket in the north of the United States, local authorities announced. A 42 -year -old suspect was arrested and placed in police custody.
(Keystone-ATS) “According to the information we have, these are acts committed at random,” said the Sheriff of the County of Grand Traverse, adding that the “victims had not been determined in advance”.
The suspect, who lives in Michigan, apparently acted alone and used a “folding knife”.
“We can confirm that eleven victims are currently being taken care of,” the hospital in the region, Munson Medical Center on social networks. Six of the victims were in critical condition late Saturday evening and five others were seriously injured, the same source said.

At least three people had to be operated on, according to the sheriff. The victims are six men and five women. The governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer said he was in contact with the authorities concerning this “horrible information”.
The police were called to the end of the afternoon to report an incident to the Walmart supermarket in the City of City, the Michigan police said.
A woman witness to the scene explained to the New York Times having heard any cries and saw a man run a knife in hand in the pharmacy department of the store. According to her, the man jostled and stabbed people by moving through the store.
The sheriff said that the stabs had started at the boxes, stressing that this type of violence was “very unusual” in the region. People in the supermarket “helped” the suspect’s arrest, he said.
Crossing City is a very popular tourist resort located on the shores of Lake Michigan.
