This Tuesday is launched the visit of the future sovereign at the Universal 2025 exhibition, organized in Japan. Prince Guillaume is, together with Minister Stéphanie Obertin, at the head of an economic delegation. Despite the distance of 9,500 km, Luxembourg will be omnipresent during this visit.
Feel at home, while being at the other end of the globe? Yes, this is possible, and the Luxembourg pavilion, making the hearts “beat” of the hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Osaka Universal Exhibition, is a perfect example. A very successful scenography makes you literally plunge into the Grand Duchy, in its diversity, its multicultural character, its sense of innovation and, of course, its landscapes, cities and emblematic places.
Owner national there are Une “grillwill»
The reward, often after almost two hours of waiting to access the pavilion, is a “refreshment bar” in Luxembourg, where it is served as national beer, “Grillwurscht” and “Gromperekichelecher”, revisited by the students of the Hotel and Tourism School (EHTL). Without forgetting the “Keelebunn”, the skittle track almost 20 meters long, imported directly from the Grand Duchy.
The pavilion was designed around the theme “Doki Doki – The Luxembourg Heartbeat”, Japanese expression describing the noise that the heart makes when it beats. One of the creators’s ideas is that the Japanese and other visitors fall, in a way, “in love” from the Grand Duchy.
A 155 hectare site
Monday, despite a gloomy and tropical weather, the excitement on the huge site of the Osaka Expo-165 exhibitors spread over 155 hectares, surrounded by a large solid wood ring (12 meters high, 2 km long)-was there. And, at least around the Luxembourg pavilion, the temperature should go up again on Tuesday. In the middle of the afternoon, the Grand Duke Héritier Guillaume will start his “world tour”.
More than 60 companies represented
The future sovereign will lead, together with Minister Stéphanie Obertin, an important economic delegation representing more than 60 companies, active in particular in the fields of space, renewable energies (hydrogen), the circular economy, research and health.
Since the opening, on April 13, some 11.7 million visitors have already visited the 2025 Expo.
