Up to 37 degrees near Liège … But 18 at the coast: How to explain the big difference in temperatures experienced today?

If this Wednesday was the last very hot day of the week, at the coast, temperatures were already much more bearable. How to explain it?

He made, for the third day in a row, very hot all over Belgium today … all? Maybe not. At the coast, the temperatures were very mild, with 18 degrees on the clock, while at the other end of the country, the thermometer got carried away: 37 in Liège, 38 in Limburg or 34 in Brussels. How to explain it?

It has been a few days now that the thermometer displayed dizzying values because of these famous southern currents. “It came to us live from the currents that impacted the values. And this was still the case this afternoon in the east of the territory, on the provinces of Liège, Luxembourg and Limburg in mind, ”analyzes Sabrina Jacobs, our weather presenter.

On the other hand, at the coast, the wind had already turned. “From the west, we have been affected by sea air. If not fresher, in any case already much less hot: hence this amplitude of values between the temperatures identified to the coast and those on the East. This fresh, less hot air, it rushes into the country from west to east, which also explains the cooling that we will know tomorrow, ”she reassures.

Tomorrow, this fresher air will concern the entire territory and we will lose more than 10 degrees locally in just 24 hours.
