Flood prevention
Urgent work in the Ruau to protect Saint-Blaise
Laténa announces an intervention in five areas of the river. The accumulation of tuf in the watercourse represents a major risk for the village.
The grouping of municipalities of Laténa announces cleaning work in the Ruau to prevent the risk of flooding in Saint-Blaise, as it indicates in a press release published this Thursday. The work will start on August 18 for around a week and a half, subject to favorable weather conditions and an adequate water level.
The Ruau represents a danger of flooding for a large part of the village. The rapid training of tuf concretions in the watercourse considerably reduces its size and increases the risks of overflow. Since 2016, the municipality regularly performs localized bruises, mainly in underground sections.
Five targeted areas
This year, interventions will focus on five different locations of the open -air parts of the river, over a total length of 65 meters. The teams will withdraw the necessary materials, especially at the level of certain thresholds, while preserving as much as possible the natural appearance of the Ruau.
The municipality has produced a plan indicating the sections concerned by cleaning work.

Specific measures will be put in place to protect aquatic fauna, in particular trout. The vegetation of the banks will be temporarily affected, but the experience of previous years shows that it regenerates quickly after the work.
