A motorist was intercepted Thursday evening after circulating at 192 km/h on the Valangin bridge, reports a press release from Neuchâtel police broadcast this Friday. The driver, a Portuguese national of forty years domiciled in the Neuchâtel mountains, was flashed at 8:48 p.m. on the N20 where the speed is limited to 100 km/h.
The automatic control device installed on the deck quickly identified the vehicle circulating in the direction of La Chaux-de-Fonds. A gendarmerie patrol intercepted the driver shortly after at the Giratory of Bas-du-Reymond. The police immediately led the motorist to the premises of the Neuchâtel police for a formal hearing led by the gendarmes of the traffic police.
Severe sanctions
The forties is the subject of a criminal denunciation. The sanctions incurred for this type of offense are particularly heavy: a private sentence of freedom of 1 to 4 years as well as a driving prohibition of a minimum duration of 2 years.
Faced with the worrying increase in serious trafficking offenses and traffic accidents, the Neuchâtel police announced the maintenance of speed controls throughout the summer period, the press release said. The authorities recall the individual responsibility of each user in compliance with speed limitations to guarantee public security.
