The violent thunderstorms that swept part of Quebec on Thursday affected more than 200 sectors, still depriving current of some 33,000 households on Friday, and made many damage in certain sectors of Outaouais and Laurentides.
Most private power households, i.e. 22,262, are located in Outaouais. It is in this region that “it fell the strongest”, specifies Alexandra Landry, meteorologist at Environment Canada. “According to the relationships of the population which have entered, there are damage in sectors like Val-des-Monts, Pontiac, Shawville, featured trees. »»

“We are going to do an analysis of the radar data archives that we have for yesterday. When all this information is compiled, if the evidence is strong enough to say that there could have been a tornado potential, we send a team from the Northern Tornadoes Project (NTP), to assess the damage and then issue an official report, namely if there has really been a tornado or not. »»
Return during the day
In addition, with regard to electricity failures, 7,518 addresses are located in the Laurentians, 6962 in the Quebec region and 1995 on the island of Montreal, according to a assessment consulted at 8:30 am at the height of the breakdowns, on the night of Thursday to Friday, there were 48,000 households affected.
