Thunderstorms could descend to the large Montreal region on the night of Thursday to Friday, after causing damage and a little hail in the west of Quebec.
The episode will have time to run out a bit before arriving in Montreal, Dominic Morin, meteorologist at Environment Canada, however. “But the potential is really there for a good part of the night north of the river, in Montreal, on the South Shore, in Drummondville, to Quebec,” he adds.

South of Quebec can therefore expect strong gusts and rain, conditions which remain “completely normal” for the month of July, specifies Mr. Morin.
Environnement Canada issued a violent thunderstorm alert in Outaouais, the Laurentians and in certain sectors of Lanaudière, and several other regions were on the lookout Thursday evening. Nearly 43,000 households were without electricity, around 9:30 p.m., more than half of which were in Outaouais.
Risks of tornadoes were added to predictions Thursday evening. “But we don’t have signs yet that there would have been damage associated with that,” adds Morin. Gusts and lightning have however uprooted several trees in the Mont-Laurier sector, which also received 2 cm of hail.
A heat warning still targets the large Montreal region, with a humidx of almost 40 reached during the day. The alert will continue during the night, which promises to be hot, with around 20 ° C planned. The heat will dissipate on Friday, after thunderstorms have swept away the remaining humidity that hovers in the region.
