Tens of thousands of Hydro-Québec customers are deprived of electricity at the end of the day. Most of these breakdowns occurred in the Greater Montreal region, where a violent thunderstorm alert was launched.
Around 4:50 p.m., the number of private power foci reached 11,028 in the Laurentians, 10,545 in Montérégie, 8291 in Montreal and 5208 in Lanaudière.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m., it was, however, nearly 100,000 Hydro-Québec customers throughout the province who were deprived of electricity.
In the past hours, between 60 mm and 70 mm of rain would have fallen on the northern crown of Montreal. The metropolis could therefore receive a similar amount of precipitation.
Motorists in Montreal braved the torrential rain on Sunday evening.
Road closures
Sudden precipitation has caused several floods on large roads.
Here are the current closures, according to Quebec 511 :
- to Lavalthe Papineau-Leblanc bridge;
- to dimvalhighway 40 in the two directions between boulevard Henri-Bourassa west and boulevard des Sources;
- In Montrealexit 60 of highway 40, which leads to highway 13 North;
- in Pointe-Claire, The 50-N release of Highway 20, which leads to Boulevard Saint-Jean;
- in Boisbriandthe ramp that leads from motorway 15 North to highway 640 west.
Due to the heavy rains, a residential area in Saint-Eustache was flooded on July 13, 2025.

Delayed flights to Montreal-Trudeau
Thunderstorms also disrupted activities at Montreal-Trudeau airport. The weather conditions that are rampant in the metropolitan region have an impact on flight schedules, ground operations and luggage delivery

Environment Canada had launched heat warnings on Sunday morning for many sectors in southern Quebec, southern Ontario and certain Atlantic provinces.
The Federal Agency also warned that the Humidex index could reach almost 40 in southern Quebec.
