War in Ukraine: “A month to destroy everything”, what is the secret “Dronocide” operation led by kyiv against Russia?

More than ever, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict bogged down in a gigantic drone war. Latest example, Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) confirmed that it had carried out an operation in the last thirty days nicknamed “Dronocide”.

On his website, the Hur explains that he has concentrated, for this secret operation until then, “on highly priority targets along the Zaporijia front”. The objective: to destroy nearly 90 enemy drone operators near Zaporijia, in the south-east of the country.

A record night for Moscow

The operation was carried out jointly by the command of the Air Force, the 128th mountain assault brigade, the 128th territorial defense brigade and the Flying Skull unit of the forces of unmanned systems, in addition to the region’s land forces.

The Ukrainian units had first prepared this targeted strike campaign by identifying 90 confirmed locations used by Russian drone operators, both for recognition and aggression missions. Of these 90 operators, kyiv claims to have “destroyed or seriously damaged” 42.

Ukrainian military intelligence has split a campaign at the same time to promote its operation. We see enemy bases reduced in ruins. It was a “month to destroy” against the Russian drone pilots, claimed the Hur, eliminating threats to the front line on Ukrainian infrastructure.

This did not prevent Moscow from signing, this night, the most massive strikes since the start of the war in 2022 with 550 devices were launched on Ukraine including 539 drones and missiles, including ballistic.

In addition, on the Ukrainian side, the “Dronocide” operation did not block the road either to other strikes on Russian territory. The Ukrainian staff reported that it had touched this Friday an “important” military installation, located in the Oblast of Moscow, which produces thermobaric warheads for Shahed drones.
