“We want to prevent them from spreading their extremist ideas”: the government has approved the draft law on radical organizations

The text will set up an administrative mechanism to prohibit certain entities which would constitute a serious threat to national security and democratic and constitutional order.

“Organizations such as Samidoun glorify terrorist organizations and their atrocities but take care to never be taken in the act of incitement to violence. They use our freedoms to spread unwanted behavior without committing punishable offenses. We want to end the actions of these organizations, whatever their legal form,” said the Prime Minister.

“We want to prevent them from disseminating their extremist ideas. The bill does not pursue opinions or ideas as such, as controversial as they are, but only the concrete behaviors that affect national security and the existence of a democratic and constitutional order”.

A measure welcomed by deputy Denis Ducarme (MR), himself the author of texts on this issue under the previous legislatures.

In doing so, Belgium follows French, German or Dutch examples, according to the Prime Minister.

Who will be targeted? The only example given is the Solidarity Network for Palestinian Prisoners Samidoun. This controversial organization has regularly been talked about since the start of the bloody repression operation led by Israel in the Gaza Strip.

It was prohibited in Germany in November 2023. In April from last year, the Office of Foreigners asked for the withdrawal of the refugee status granted to the manager of this organization, Mohammed Khatib, also prohibited in the Netherlands. The man was arrested on the evening of April 21 by the police on the sidelines of the daily demonstration in the center of Brussels against the “genocide in progress in Gaza”.

It was not an administrative arrest, but an arrest in the context of a judicial inquiry, said in June Mr. Quintin in the Chamber’s committee. Mr. Khatib had been released after a few hours.

On July 15, as part of a topical debate in the House, the Minister of the Interior had cited other organizations which were the subject of reports of the Coordination and Threat Analysis Organization (OCAM), including Rouge Code, Stop Arming Israel or the Nihilist and Neozia Inspiration 764. Two members of this organization are followed in Belgium.

He should only be a minister three weeks … Who is Bernard Quintin, the most Brussels resident of members of the Arizona government?
