What GSM subscription for your teenager? Here are our good plans for the start of the school year (comparison)

Aggressive promotions

On August 18, Mega Mobile struck hard by launching a promotion at 1 euro per month for two months, with 200 minutes of calls, 200 SMS and 5 GB of data. After this period, the price increases to 4 euros monthly. This attractive price is however reserved for customers who also have a gas and/or electricity contract at MEGA.

New player on the market, DIGI offers an even more competitive formula: for 3 euros per month, customers benefit from 5 GB of data, free calls between DIGI users, and very low prices to other operators (€ 0.01/min and 0.07 €/SMS).

More than one in two Belgian has already made a mobile payment: a first!

In Flanders, Telenet has chosen to target the youngest directly with its Junior Mobile Telenet offer, presented as the first subscription to 5 euros specifically intended for children. As a bonus, the operator includes free support for digital education, intended for parents and children.

As every year on the eve of September 1, operators compete in creativity to seduce families. The market today offers a wide range of formulas at low prices, but not all of them are equal. Some require special conditions, such as the obligation to take out an internet or energy contract in parallel.

“Young people do not use their smartphone in the same way as adults. In general, they call less and consume more data. Watch videos on Instagram, Snapchat or Tiktok consumes much more than just online reading. There are even less expensive subscriptions, but often with less mobile data. This is an element to take into account during the comparison,” adds David Geerts, CEO Peasy

In Hornu, Julia was the victim of a scam by phone: her account was stripped and the probability of one day reviewing her 9000 euros is thin!

The prepaid card

If you want total expenditure control, the prepaid card may be an interesting option, without commitment or subscription.

“A prepaid card offers more financial serenity: impossible for your child to exceed the available credit. But the prices are generally higher than the subscriptions. In addition, it is necessary to recharge at least once every 12 months to keep the number active. It is therefore ideal for occasional use, but less suitable for young people who use their smartphone intensively”, concludes David Geerts.

Energy contract: promo or group purchase, what is the best plan while suppliers’ prices go downwards too
