The overhaul of a clinical information exchange tool between 24 health and social services institutions should initially cost $ 859,000.
As is too often the case for the government’s IT projects, the scope of the work has been changed along the way, which has naturally led to new delays.
In this case, these postpones are considerable: there are more than seven years late. Initially, the application was to be replaced in March 2018, but the deadline was gradually pushed back until June 2025.
Result: the note climbed to $ 2.1 million, an increase of 152.7%, according to the most recent estimate that dates from last year. And the project is still not finished.
Worrying fact, the tool that must be replaced “uses an outdated computer platform that presents risk security risks,” said a health spokesperson Quebec in response to questions from Journal.
For the time being, the deployment of the new application began in March 2024. “The establishments of the Montreal regions, [de] Laval and the Capitale-Nationale are already in operation, ”underlines Santé Québec.
No contract was granted for this IT project, carried out “internally” by the government teams.
