Where to celebrate the national holiday in Bas-Saint-Laurent?

The Bas-Saint-Laurent region is the one where subsidized festivals are the most numerous in Quebec, according to the National Society of East-du-Québec (SNEQ). Bas-Laurentians will have the choice between more than 60 rallies on Monday and Tuesday.

We have more than 60 local festivals in addition to the regional party in Mont-Joli. And it is only those who are part of the grant program of the Ministry of Culture of Quebec. It does not count the neighborhood celebrations and everythingunderlines the new president of the SneqAriane Francoeur, at the microphone ofInfo Monday morning.

From Dégelis to Notre-Dame-du-Portage, from Auclair to Saint-Narcisse-de-Rimouski, there is something for everyone. A complete calendar of the festivities by region and by municipality is also available on the site of the Government of Quebec.

A large regional festival

Hundreds of Bas-Laurentians are expected at the Quebec National Day in Mont-Joli for the regional gathering on Monday evening.

The festivities include a tribute to the fringent cowboys and a show by Michel Lalonde, the original singer of Garolou.

Last year, it was Rivière-du-Loup who welcomed the regional celebrations of Saint-Jean-Baptiste. There Sneq has been sure since last year that the party moves from city to city to visit each of the eight MRC from the region.

Ms. Francoeur greets the organization of the Rikifest which, this year, launched an event to underline Saint-Jean in Rimouski, at the Beauséjour Park.

Last February, the Sneq Emitted the wish that the city of Rimouski is more proactive and that its citizens are mobilizing to revive the sector and neighborhood festivals which were more numerous before.

We hope that, in the coming years, there may be more budget on the part of the city of Rimouski. When we look at similar cities in the population, elsewhere in Quebec, there are slightly more important budgets that are allocated to this party.

Some municipalities have a program of festivities over two days, Monday and Tuesday, notably Pocatière and Pohénégamok.

Weather alert

This year again, tradition is stronger than bad weather. Several municipalities have planned B plans in the event of rain. A significant precaution while Vivation Canada announced on Monday morning a violent thunderstorm to the west of Rivière-du-Loup.
