This Monday, July 21, a national day in Belgium, twenty Belgians will be deceased an honorary title or nobiliary favors.
Among the various titles granted, nine Belgians will enter the ranks of the nobility with the title of Baron or Baroness. Note that this title cannot be transmitted to heirs. Here are the names named:
- Kaloma Bamiriyo, founder of the Congolese Association for Community Development Support
- Emmanuel Cornu, President of the Benelux Council of Intellectual Property
- Pierre Van Damme, vaccinologist and emeritus professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Antwerp
- Ann Demeulemeester, stylist of the School of Antwerp
- Anne d’Ieteren, president of the Belgian Paralympic Committee
- Delphine Heenen, founder of the Kickcancer organization
- Emmanuel Keirse, psychologist, author and mourning experts
- Lutgarde Lynen, doctor specializing in internal doctor and infectiology
- Daniel Thierry, founder of Care Belgium
Distinctions
The Belgian artist Alÿs, his real name Francis de Smedt, will be named knight.
Ten other people will receive an honorary title. Chantal Couvreur, Samuel Dillemans and Jacqueline de Montjoye will receive the title of commanders of the Crown Order.
Louis de Cannière, Arnaud Marchant, Saskia van Uffen, Jean Waterschoot, Catherine de Bolle are appointed commanders of the order of Léopold.
Finally, Baron Jan Huyghebaert and Simon Gronowski (Solidate survivor) are appointed great officers of the Crown Order.
