An “individual” initiative
The initiative is supported from outside the hemicycle by the unhappy far -right candidate for the presidential election George Simion. With the exception of an elected official from the European People’s Party (the conservative political family of UVDL), the signatories come from the ECR, of the far-right patriotic groups for Europe and Europe of sovereign nations, as well as by non-inscribed.
Their chances of dropping German? Close to zero. The motion collected two thirds of the votes cast, representing the majority of the members who make up the Parliament (361 of the 720 elected officials at least). Given that the motion is not supported by any group as such-although 31 of its own signed it, the ECR has taken care to dissociate from it-it is almost certain that the account will not be to oust the president.
The European Commission in the face of a fire nourished by criticism and questions
The latter’s relations with part of the Parliament is nonetheless tense: Monday and Tuesday, the socialists and democrats and the Renew (liberal and centrist) threatened to withdraw their (essential) support. They are furious that the Commission has announced, without any other form of trial, the withdrawal of a legislative proposal for the fight against greenwashing. The two groups believe that the president hits the agenda of her commission on the wisdom of the PPE, which undermines the majority of a der Leyen that he trains the socialists and the liberals by not hesitating to ally on the far right, on occasion.
We weeks, like that …
