Between 600 and 1000 unidentified flying objects (UFOs) are reported in Canada each year. But contrary to what one might think, the opening of an office to inventory these observations is more of pragmatism than paranormal, according to an expert in the field.
In recent years, the interest in UFOs – now called “unidentified air phenomena” (PAI) – has been increasing. Moreover, the United States has set up its own organization responsible for centralizing testimonies in 2022.
However, the objective of this type of office would be less to confirm the existence of extraterrestrial life than to ensure public security.
“At first, there is an interest, of course, military and a civil interest,” says Christian Page, a paranormal specialist. “If the sky of Canada is patrolled by objects, whether balloons from China or aircraft like drones or other similar objects, it is important to know it on the military level and on [celui de] air navigation, [des objets] who could possibly conflict with the circulation of planes, large carriers or small planes. ”
With an office reserved for these observations, the Canadian government could glue them to determine if there is a risk to the population. It would then be easier to inform Canadians precisely.
“We also want, if Canada wants it – we feel it through its report -, […] Fighting disinformation and memorformation, ”says Mr. Page.
