Why this good Apple Airtag alternative at half price is worth it?

The Ugreen Smart Finder Tag is the last accessory added to my keychain and has been particularly useful for everyday life. If you are like me, a little head in the air and has an iPhone, this Bluetooth tag should in turn please you.

If you are not familiar with the term smart tag, these small tags of tracking Bluetooth are very practical, since they allow you to easily locate your keys or any object to which it is hung, in case of forgetting or loss. Introduced for years by the manufacturer Tile, there are now many players on the market, including the Samsung and Apple giants.

IPhone users can turn to Apple Airtag, but to avoid paying the high price, there are other alternatives, compatible with Find My, like that of the Ugreen brand. We have tested this tracker at a low price which costs 50 % less than the Californian firm solution.

The Bluetooth tag in question

A small discreet tag, easy to hang and set sail

If you have an already well loaded keychain, know that Ugreen’s Bluetooth tag manages to be discreet. With its small dimensions (36 × 36 × 7.4 mm), I had no trouble hanging on my keys. So yes, it is thicker than its rival, but you can very well put it on other everyday objects without risking losing them, and above all, without having to buy an additional case. Ugreen has thought of adding a cord to the box to attach it via the hole at the top of the smart tag.

It is much more practical and more affordable than the solution offered by Apple which requires an accessory to buy separately to be attached.

To start it, it’s a children’s game. Just press the power button to connect it to your iPhone and start the “Locate” application. The next step is to add an Airtag, it is then instantly recognized, and you can give it a little name.

As said above, I hung it on my key trousseau, but it has much wider use than that of simple keychain. You can very well use it for your car, your bike, your pet necklace or in your suitcase to always keep an eye on it.

Effective, but not as precise as a AirTag …

In use, it was rather effective. It happened to me not to know where I had been able to leave my satanous keys, and this little tag allowed me to put my hands on it and above all to be less stressed at the idea of not finding them. As soon as you go away from the object, here my keys, a notification is sent to indicate that it is “forgotten” and where it was seen the last time.

In the case above, my boyfriend had embarked my keys without knowing it with him at work, and it allowed me to know where they were. Click on itinerary leads to the latter, as if it were a destination: we switch to Apple Plans with a path to follow according to the mode of locomotion chosen (vehicle, feet, bicycle, public transport or VTC). And you can even use its Apple Watch to follow the route on it.

Grégoire – Our bike referent and electric scooters – was able to use the tag during his stay in Thailand. He was reassured when he saw that his suitcase had also reached destination.

We were able to compare the Apple tracker with that of Ugreen: we can see here that the two indicates the same address “137 boulevard Sébastopol”. On the other hand, the location accuracy is not perfect and we regret not having the presentation Finding function.

It is an augmented reality interface to find your object lost more easily. Like a treasure hunt, just follow the indications and the direction to be taken to get started in search of your lost object, via the application. The distance will also be displayed. It is fast and precise to find an object around you.

I was still able to trigger the sound signal, which emits a fairly powerful sound (up to 80 dB), and helped me more than once to quickly locate my keys when I was close enough. The integrated speaker of tracker Takes a melody to indicate its location, but if the object is below, you cannot trigger the alarm (10 to 20 meters maximum).

Another notable difference with Apple Airtags: Ugreen does not mention IP certification against water and dust. It is therefore better to be careful and avoid making it fall into a puddle or take it to the beach. It is still certified UL4200A and has a safe structure to prevent children from opening the battery compartment. In this regard, the tracker Works from a small flat battery easily replaceable, and offers an autonomy of about two years according to the manufacturer, enough to be quiet for a moment before changing it. It is possible to check the level of the battery via the application.

Some practical features

The Ugreen Smart Finder Tag is able to take into account up to five users who share the location of objects. If you are up to date on your iPhone and are on iOS 17 or a more recent version, you can ask your relatives and friends to help you find lost objects by accessing the location of the location of the location of the location of the location of tracker.

And if it is possible to be alerted in case of forgetting, one can also restrict places, such as your home, and not to receive notifications when you leave this place without the object.

This is my return of experience on this little tracker, which helped me more than once to put my hands on my keys. He does the trick if you lose your keys from time to time, or want to know if your luggage is the plane.
