Workers, performers, caregivers … Is your job threatened by AI? Here is the list unveiled by Microsoft

And then, how can we not think of the impact and the role of Hollywood in all of this? Like Matrixwhere AI seeks to control humans, or Terminator With its famous “skynet” ready to destroy them, many have developed a form of mistrust (or, downright, a phobia) in the face of this new technology and the image it sends.

Faced with these many questions, Microsoft has conducted the investigation to find out which professions can be really concerned in the future … and above all, which could be much more than you think. For this, they have based on some 200,000 anonymized conversations between users and the brand’s artificial intelligence software, Microsoft Copilot.

Should you be polite with AI? “Tens of millions of dollars”, spent because of the politeness

Logical results … but also surprising

If you have already used an AI, like Chatgpt or Gemini, you are aware that in the majority of cases, it is used to answer questions, do research, analyze data, translate a text or correct formulations.

It is therefore without too much surprise that certain professions appear to be more at risk than others. There are translators and interpreters, customer service agents (already often replaced by bots in certain companies) but also correctors, publishers, statistical assistants … or journalists.

Conversely, more manual trades, such as workers, painters, tire repairers or nursing assistants, embalmers, phlebotomists (those who take care of blood tests), are among the least affected professions.

An imminent disappearance?

Be careful however, researchers want to bring an important nuance. This study does not mean that these professions will purely and simply disappear. Far from it. Because as they recall in their study, to find here as well as the complete list of professions, if AI can reproduce certain tasks, it does not take into account the human responsibilities that go with it.
