At 17, the Cavalière Villeneuvoise Chloé Simons shines in archery, a spectacular sport still unknown. World champion, she targets gold in the United States. Will she be able to take up the challenge?
She does not make noise Chloé Simons. Lycéenne in Villeneuve-sur-Lot at Lycée Lot-et-Bastide. She is, not only a rod on horseback who in addition archery, but she is also world champion by team and world champion junior individually.
She learned this slightly special discipline at the Hantayo equestrian farm located in Saint-Robert, on the territory of the Grand Villeneuvois agglomeration. And it is trained by the owner of the premises, Sylvie Recoussin.
Between two training sessions for the young rider, she is only 17 years old, she agrees to confide in her discipline and the next international deadlines approaching.
World team champion and individual junior in Mongolia in 2023
“From a very young age, I have been playing horse riding. In 2018, I was offered a horseshoe. I liked it, and I continued ”.
She lived, in fact, a dazzling progression in this discipline still poorly known. “I have been selected in the France team since 2022 and has been renewing my selection for each year in order to represent France on the most prestigious competitions worldwide. Through my journey I have the ambition to transmit my passion for archery on horseback. I would like to be considered an ambassador for this incredible sport in order to increase the number of participants and help this sport develop so that it can one day be considered one of the Olympic disciplines. ”
And we can say that she does things pretty well if we refer to her already well provided list: in 2022, with the French team, she is silver medalist in individual junior and gold by team; The following year, at the world championships in Mongolia, she was on the highest work by team and individually; same results in 2024 during the European championships…
World Championships in the United States in September
A few days ago, the national coach, Alain Legall, unveiled the list of riders who will leave in the United States in September for the world championships. And Chloé is part of the list. “France is reigning world champion. We won in 2023 in Mongolia. We have a very good team, very experienced. Gaétan, Raphaël and Chloé were already part of the world champion team in 2023. Our 4 riders are in the best world. So we have a real card to play, but we will prepare very seriously, with in particular an internship at the end of August, to be at the top of our form for the competition ”.
Chloé Simons has just passed the test of the national selection high. He has another one left, and not least: find the necessary funding for this adventure. This is why she appeals.
The call to participate in the Chloé challenge
This year, I had the immense joy of learning that the French riding federation (FFE) selected me to represent France during the 2025 World Archery World Championship, which will take place next September, in Tennessee, in the United States. It is for me a unique opportunity to defend my world title, an incredible honor. During international competitions, we do not go up our own horses. Instead, we put on horses provided by the organizers which requires a high level of adaptability and riding, it is a unique and exciting challenge. To participate in the world championship, I have to finance: round trip for the United States, transport costs within the United States, accommodation and meals, registration fees and horse rental on site. This kitty will help me anticipate the costs and relieve my friends and family a little, who supports me at each stage of my journey so far.
