Continuous mobilization around reported cases

On the proposal of Gérard COOLLON. Furthermore, Managing Director of ARS La Réunion, Patrice Latron, prefect of Reunion, decided to return to level 2 of the ORSEC system for the fight against arboviroses. For several consecutive weeks. the number of cases has been sharply decrease and the impact on emergencies and hospital care has returned to normal. By way of comparison. the confirmed cases were 7,500 in week 13, at the height of the epidemic, against 197 health: end chikungunya epidemic, passage in week 24, the passages in the emergency services of the department were 389 admissions in week 16, against 9 in week 25.

Remove the circulation of chikungunya: a collective commitment

In order to avoid new contaminations. end the circulation of the virus, the Anti-Scecorelle (LAV) service of the ARS Reunion prioritizes its interventions around the cases declared by the medical biology laboratories. It is therefore essential, in the event of symptoms, to consult your doctor and to carry out a biology analysis.

In addition, local communities continue the actions of health, and awareness among the population with the support of the ARS.

LAV interventions are also focused on strategic sites. especially to protect the most vulnerable people: housing of infants, women at health: end chikungunya epidemic, passage the end of pregnancy and the elderly with comorbidities, maternity, nursing homes, nurseries, schools. On these sites. several actions are deployed: prospecting to identify and delete larval lodges, awareness of occupants, distribution of repellents, Larvicides treatments (against larvae) in the event of impossibility of suppression of larval cottages at the moment.

Insecticide treatments will be reserved only for intervention perimeters around cases. in order to limit the implementation of resistance to insecticide in insects and the undesirable effects on the environment.

The health authorities recall the importance of an individual. collective mobilization and invite the Reunionese to continue to apply the prevention gestures:

· Consult a doctor in the event of symptoms to allow rapid screening and inform the ARS LAV service, which will thus be able to intervene effectively in the areas concerned;

· Use repellents;

Eliminate larval lodges around home;

· Use health: end chikungunya epidemic, passage mosquito nets.

The epidemic of Chikungunya 2025: a significant mobilization of the State

– 57. 328 houses and buildings visited;

– more than 30,000 anti-mosquito repellents and 7,500 mosquito nets distributed;

– 30,076 insecticide treatments carried out;

– 15,968 eliminated larval lodges;

– 10,488 perimeters benefited from an intervention;

– more than 4,000 people aware or trained in prevention gestures;

– more than 975 interventions on strategic sites;

– 240 actions carried out by the Task-Force of social mobilization of the LAV service;

– 200 LAV agents engaged in the field;

– 120 RSMA soldiers in support;

– 14 engineers and technicians from the public health health reserve.

In addition. the municipal, inter-municipal services and 800 PEC LAV (jobs skills dedicated to the anti-label fight) continue to strengthen this mobilization, placed under the coordination of the prefect, in close collaboration with the Director General of ARS.

Partners (communities, associations, health: end chikungunya epidemic, passage companies, etc.) have also organized many awareness -raising actions (stand, street awareness, in supermarkets, training of their agents, etc.).
