The Quebec Automobile Insurance Company (SAAQ) has returned its vice-president to digital experience, Caroline Fold-Busque.

The state -owned company confirmed the departure of its computer owner, the news of which was first reported by the press on Tuesday morning.

In an email transmitted to the Canadian press, the SAAQ said that Ms. Fold-Busque was “dismissed from her duties” and that she will be replaced by Luc Leblanc. The latter is currently vice-president of information technology at Retraisse Québec.

“In the current context where the vice-president is faced with certain difficulties and opportunities, a manager who can face the challenges we are and will be confronted,” said a spokesperson for the organization, Gino Desrosiers.

“It is an opportunity to renew our approach. This change is part of a desire to strengthen our ability to deliver reliable, modern and safe services, “he added.

Ms. Fold-Busque had succeeded in January 2024 in Karl Malenfant, who was at the heart of the SAAQCLIC platform project and whose name is constantly returning to the public hearings of the Gallant Commission.

The name of Ms. Fold-Busque also emerged during testimonies heard at the Commission which is investigating the missed digital turn of the SAAQ.

The manager was first hired by the Crown Company in January 2016 as Casa Director of Casa, the acronym given to the SAAQ technological modernization project.

Ms. Fold-Busque then arrived from Hydro-Québec. And his spouse – identified as a relative of Mr. Malenfant – had just won a consultant contract from the company for the digital turn, according to what was revealed to the Gallant Commission.

The departure of Ms. Fold-Busque occurs a month after the dismissal of Eric Ducharme at the head of the SAAQ. It was replaced by the Vice-President at the Insured Services, Annie Lafond, who holds the CEO position in an temporary manner.

Last week, the Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault, announced the creation of a restructuring cell for the SAAQ.

In particular, the unit will have to assess the organization’s services and offer avenues to improve them. It will also have to revise the financial company’s financial situation.
