“Another massive attack on the capital. Possibly, several waves of enemy drones, ”wrote the head of the Kyïv administration on Telegram Timour Tkatchenko.
“Two injured were hospitalized in the Solomianski district,” said Kyïv mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Two other wounded were reported near a metro exit, where people took shelter in the Sviatochinski district in the west of the capital, Tkatchenko said later.
Military authorities have indicated that air defense has been activated and warned of the missile threat.
AFP journalists in the capital have heard drones in flight and a series of detonations.
In a shelter located in the basement of a residential building in the center of Kyïv, these journalists saw a dozen people waiting for the end of the attack on chairs or benches, most of them scrutinizing their phone in search of information. A woman and her child slept in folding beds brought in advance in the shelter.
Crater
Following an attack in the Destrict of Denianski, “a crater appeared in the courtyard of a residential building,” said Taktchenko, while the mayor of the capital reported in another district.
Ukrainian cities are targeted every night by Russian strikes, at a time when talks for a ceasefire are deadlocked.
At least 28 people had been killed and more than 130 injured in Kyïv on the night of June 16 to 17 during a Russian attack carried out using more than 440 drones and 32 missiles, according to Ukrainian authorities.
In the Rostov region, in southern Russia, an attack on Ukrainian drones on Monday “caused a fire in an industrial company in the Kamenski district,” said regional governor Iouri Slioussar on Telegram.
The commander -in -chief of the Ukrainian armies, Oleksandr Syrsky, assured on Saturday that Ukraine was going to intensify his strikes against depth Russian military targets in Russia, three weeks after a spectacular attack on the air bases remote in this country.
In August 2024, the Ukrainian army had attacked by surprise the Russian border region of Koursk, seizing hundreds of square kilometers before being dislodged in the spring by the Russian forces supported by a North Korean contingent.
Oleksandr Syrsky assured that Ukraine still held 90 square kilometers in this region. “These are our preventive actions in response to a possible enemy offensive,” he said.
Moscow currently occupies about a fifth of Ukraine and has already claimed the annexation of four Ukrainian regions, in addition to the Crimean Peninsula, which she invaded in 2014.
Russia declared in April to have taken total control of the Koursk region and denies that Kyïv had a presence there.
Subsequently, Moscow launched attacks in the Ukrainian region close to Soumy, seizing several localities and saying that he wanted to constitute a buffer zone.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week that he did not exclude taking the city of Soumy, the regional capital, while Kyïv accuses Moscow of deliberately sabotage a peace agreement in order to grasp more territories.
On the diplomatic level, Kyïv supported the strikes of the United States and Israel against nuclear sites in Iran on Sunday, believing that it was a “aggressive actions” consequence of the Iranian authorities.
Ukrainian diplomacy also said that Iran was “accomplice” of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and provided “military assistance” in Moscow, in particular drones used to bomb Ukrainian territory.
