More than 600,000 tickets have already been sold for the Women’s Euro in Switzerland before its kick -off on Wednesday, which sets a new record for the competition, UEFA announced.
In 2022, a total of 574,875 tickets had been sold in England, which was already a record for the continental female competition far ahead of the 247,041 spectators during the previous competition in the Netherlands in 2017.
“One of our main objectives was to sell all tickets for the event. I remember how people laughed when we set this goal, but it is becoming reality“Said the head of women’s football at UEFA Nadine Kessler.
“We have set this goal because for us, it is the most important sign of growth and development. Already, 22 games (out of 31) are closed, and 600,000 tickets sold in total, without opening match at Old Trafford (Manchester) or final in Wembley (London)“continued Kessler, evoking the last Euro which took place in England.
More than a third of tickets sold internationally
With 87,192 spectators gathered in Wembley in 2022, the England-Germany final broke the crowd for a Euro match, whether male or female.
For the 2025 edition, among the 600,000 tickets sold, 35 % were purchased internationally, said UEFA: “There are already 61,000 supporters who come from Germany, 41,000 from England, 16,000 from France, 15,000 from the Netherlands and 5,000 from the United States“Said Kessler.
“This shows that we learned the good lessons of the tournament in England in 2022 and that we are on the way to break all the records“, Detailed the German manager and former player.
