The National Council had spoken out against it, it is not the same with the Commission for the Security Policy of the Council of States. On Friday, the latter announced that it supported the idea of a billion franc credit for the purchase of ammunition for army soil-to-air defense systems as well as for medium-distance indirect fire support systems. The vote was played for a hair, since it was the preponderant voice of the president of the commission that made it possible to decide.
According to his support, this additional credit is essential to fill the gaps in terms of stocks and guarantee the ability of the army to hold over time, in an international context deemed tense. The opponents argued for their part for progressive purchases, as is already the case currently, due to the lack of financial means.
The Commission also approved the other elements of the message on the 2025 army sent by the Federal Council in February. These include three credits for a total amount of 1.7 billion francs. The file will be addressed during the autumn session of the Parliament.
