Trade war | Beijing says Washington has raised certain export restrictions

(Beijing) China said on Friday that the United States had relaxed certain export restrictions, in accordance with a “harshly acquired” agreement to smooth out their commercial disputes, concluded in London last month.

“Currently, the two parties are quickly working on implementing the results described in the general framework adopted in London,” said the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

He also said the United States had raised “a series of restrictive measures against China”, the details of which were communicated to China.

The ministry said that “London’s executive had been harmful” and warned that “blackmail and coercion will not lead anywhere”.

After talks in Geneva (Switzerland) in May, Washington and Beijing agreed with a commercial ceasefire and had agreed to temporarily reduce prohibitive customs duties on their respective products.

China was also committed to alleviating certain non-customs countermeasures. But US officials then accused Beijing of violating the agreement, and in particular of dragging their feet to issue export licenses for rare earths.

In mid-June, Washington and Beijing were finally granted, during new discussions in London, to postpone the agreement reached in Geneva on the rails.

The United States has also recently raised the rules relating to certain exports to China, in particular by removing license requirements for the country’s expedition to the country, according to a Bloomberg report published this week.

Donald Trump swept the hostile acts carried out by China on Sunday against the United States and assured “get along well” with the country.
