For Brussels residents who want to renovate their property, this reform will make the PEB certificate “more readable, with suitable concrete recommendations to help plan their renovation work“, closer to actual consumption by softening certain default values ​​revealed too penalizing.
“This corresponds better to the general characteristics of the Brussels buildings, and will make the certificate more reliable“, Added Alain Maron, in a press release. More broadly, this reform offers a now unique, consistent calculation method for all types of buildings.
As part of the condominiums, the certificate will explain the necessary work on the common areas, which simplifies collective renovations.
In addition, the reform, co-constructed with professionals in the sector, creates a new unified profession of PEB expert, with reinforced and continuous training.
The changes will take full effect in less than a year when a new software is operational and that professionals in the sector have been trained in the new method.
