The world’s leading manufacturer of regional aircraft has just received an order of 16 ATR 72-600 from Air Algeria. The devices will be delivered to its domestic airlines subsidiary between 2026 and 2028.
At mid-year, the ATR command book is getting closer to high speed of its (very good) level last year. The Toulouse regional aircraft manufacturer has, in fact, sold 46 aircraft in just over six months. For the record, he had recorded 56 firm orders in 2024.

It must be said that big contracts are linked. After having won, last month, his biggest order since 2017, 19 aircraft bought by the Taiwanese company Uni Air, the aircraft manufacturer has just sold 16 ATR 72-600 additional in Air Algeria.

Aircraft and flight simulator
The company based in Algiers knows the Franco-Italian turboprop well. Since 2003, it has even become its main user in Africa. Air Algeria has operated ATR since 2003. It now operates 12 ATR 72-500 and 3 ATR 72-600. Deliveries of new 72 -seat devices are planned between 2026 and 2028. They will be operated by its regional domestic airlines subsidiary to strengthen its interior links. “The ATR 72-600 is the ideal plane to help us connect all regions of our country and support national development through reliable and efficient air transport,” said Hamza Benhamouda, the company’s general manager.
Air Algeria order is accompanied by an ATR 72-600 flight simulator, the first of its kind in Africa. It will be installed in the current Air Algeria training center and will strengthen the training capacities of its pilots.

The ATR 72-600 is the bestseller of the world’s leading manufacturer of regional aircraft. It alone represents more than 90 % of orders. The device, which displays a cruising speed of 500 km/h, can transport up to 78 passengers over a distance of 1,300 kilometers.
