After food poisoning in children, hundreds of footballers called for vigilance

The meat sold during a football tournament this weekend in Aisne came from one of the closed butcheries after cases of food poisoning.

Health – After the poisoning of several children in Saint -Quentin, in Aisne, it is now football players who could be affected. As reported by France 3 Hauts-de-France and here North this Tuesday, June 24, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) calls a dozen clubs in the North and Pas-de-Calais to monitor the state of health of their licensees, after a barbecue during a tournament.

The meat served during the “Little AS Festival”, which was held this weekend in Saint-Quentin, came partly from one of the butcheries closed preventively by the prefecture of Aisne following 19 cases of severe food poisoning. Among them, a 12 -year -old girl died.

With France 3 regions, Thierry Minouflet, Managing Director of Olympique Saint-Quentinois explains that he learned only on Saturday evening that the meat sold came from one of the butcheries targeted by the preventive closure. “We immediately stopped the barbecues”assures the organizer of the event. “If there has been a consumption of merguez or sausages in the little ones, it is on the fringes”he continues.

An open investigation

In the event of glairo-bloody diarrhea, it is advisable to contact the 15th.

Forty clubs are affected by this call for vigilance. In total, 400 players participated in the tournament on Saturday and 600 on Sunday, specifies France 3.

The same recommendations are applied to the participants of a basketball event, which was held on June 21 in Gauchy, still in the Aisne.

Thursday, June 19, the Saint-Quentin prosecution opened a judicial inquiry, in parallel with the current health investigation. “This preliminary investigation was opened against X of manslaughter, involuntary injuries, endangering the life of others and deception on goods presenting a danger to human life”according to a press release from the prosecution.
