Not a week goes by without the market Chinese electric vehicles Make the headlines. For example, earlier this week, we learned that the Chinese car manufacturer Xiaomi was sprayed his record on the Nürburgring. Today, this same manufacturer is still talked about, this time due to the impressive craze aroused by his new Electric SUVthe YU7.
A high number of reservations
Xiaomi Corporation is originally a Chinese company specializing in electronics and IT products. A bit like Samsung, Xiaomi became known with his smartphones and consumer electronic devices. So why are we talking about it here? Because in December 2023, the company officially entered the automotive sector with its first 100 % electric vehicle, a sedan called SU7.

Today, Xiaomi unveils a second entirely electric model: the Yu7. Although it is not even marketed yet, it already arouses a monster interest. According to the company, more than 200,000 pre -orders were recorded in just three minutes. This figure would then have climbed to 289,000 during the first hour, following an online launch event.
A promising model
The YU7 seems to have some success for several reasons. First, its dynamic design attracts looks, and its format aims for a popular category. For comparison, the YU7 would measure 4,990 millimeters long, while a Hyundai Santa Fe displays 4,830 millimeters.

Technically, Xiaomi SUV includes a 96.3 kWh battery and a motorization developing 319 horsepower. It is based on an electrical architecture of 800 volts, allowing a recharge of 10 to 80 % in just 12 minutes. The autonomy announced according to the Chinese standard CLTC is 800 kilometers, which is equivalent to approximately 562 kilometers according to the North American EPA standard.
For the moment, the marketing of the YU7 is planned in China and Europe. With the 100 % tax imposed in Canada on vehicles manufactured in China, it is practically unlikely to see this model arriving here – at least, not without a change from Ottawa.
