The recovery in the 11 indigenous languages of Quebec ofA musician among so many others There will remain the last major project of Serge Fiori, who left us on Tuesday at the age of 73. The documentary Eleven nations for a songwhich will be broadcast on August 26 on here TV and here tou.tv, will come back to this unprecedented collaboration.
This project was to peak with the interpretation of this song Monday evening, by 23 artists, during the great show given in Quebec on the occasion of the national holiday, but this performance was canceled due to thunderstorms.
The musician Innu Mathieu McKenzie, from the Matten group, was to be on stage on June 23. Serge Fiori was in front of his television, he was waiting for us to be on TV, he says. It’s like a bad dream.
Mr. McKenzie has a great regret at the idea of not being able to present this version ofA musician among so many others to the Quebec public and that Serge Fiori was unable to attend a distance.
Télé-Québec decided to publish, on Facebook and Instagram, the song recorded during a rehearsal on Monday during the day.
Mathieu McKenzie will still keep in memory the immense pleasure of having worked with the deceased artist on this project as well as their exchanges. The discussions we had has been engraved in my heart, he says. Serge dreamed of seeing a Quebec where First Nations and the Allochthones could go a long way together. It was his wish in our approach toA musician among so many others in 11 indigenous languages.
We got him out of his retirement and he was honored with what we did
he adds.
An inheritance to perpetuate
The collaboration between Serge Fiori and the First Nations will remain immortalized in the documentary Eleven nations for a songco -produced by the Pamplemousse Média company, from France Beaudoin, and by Mélanie Vincent, the instigator of the project.
She is Mélanie Vincent, director of the KWE festival! To meet the indigenous peoples, who had the idea of this recovery ofA musician among so many others. This title immediately imposed itself in her mind when she thought about a song that could be interpreted in the 11 indigenous languages.

Not only Serge Fiori immediately said yes when she contacted it, in 2023, but he wanted his song to be adapted and not simply translated.
Adapting a song in 11 indigenous languages, it had never been done, explains Mélanie Vincent. It is [non seulement] A unique project but also a heritage with Serge Fiori that we leave, and it will continue.
Where did everyone who had something to tell?
