The municipality of Boom, in the province of Antwerp, gave the green light to the organization of new pyrotechnic effects for the second weekend in Tomorrowland. The organizers specify that they will remain “limited”, but this promise is not enough to appease the spirits.
Since the fire that has ravaged the main scene of the festival, many inhabitants living around the provincial domain of Schorre have been traumatized. The origin of the fire is not yet confirmed, but rumors evoke an incident linked to the pyrotechnic system.
Despite the recent rains, supposed to reduce the risk of fire, several inhabitants consider that relaunching fireworks as quickly is a mistake. “The fire occurred only a week ago. There were still fire households until the nearby.they recall at the microphone of the VRT.
A “finger of honor” in the neighborhood?
For residents, this decision symbolizes a total lack of respect. “The message is that they do what they want without taking into account the feelings of people who live in the surroundings”denounces one of them. Another does not hesitate to qualify this authorization as “Finger of honor to our faces”.
The municipality insists on compliance with the rules in force, in particular thanks to favorable weather conditions. For their part, the organizers explain having informed the inhabitants by mail: “This is part of the experience that Tomorrowland wishes to offer to his visitors”.
