The Danish puts Ingvartsen, also installed in Brussels, will deliver “Delirious Night” (July 7-12), a night ritual freely inspired by medieval frantic dances.
Mohamed Toukabri will unveil the introspective solo “Every-Body-Knows-What-Tomorrow-Brings-And-We-Oll-Know-What-Happened-Yesterday” (July 10-20). On the words of the Tunisian artist Essia Jaïbi, the Belgian-Tunisian choreographer will explore by the gesture the notions of memory and transmission, freeing himself from the hierarchies between hip-hop culture and contemporary dance.
With “Quel Aurore” (July 16-19), the Franco-Malgache Soa Ratsifandrihana will invite the author-songwriter Bonnie Banane. Both will present a performance in which their heterogeneous influences will come across, between dance, song and other forms of expression.
Co-produced by Charleroi Danse (the choreographic center of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation), “Last fires” of the French choreographer Némo Flouret-also based in the Belgian capital-will close the black-yellow-red parenthesis of the Avignon festival.
The International theater meeting will offer a total of 42 shows for nearly 300 performances. It will take place in around forty places, in the city but also extra-suros, while the “OFF” will occur in some 140 places.
