Palestinian officials and witnesses said on Wednesday that an Israeli strike killed the director of the Indonesian hospital, a private health establishment in the Gaza Strip.
Marouane Al-Sultan was found dead in his apartment in Gaza-Ville after an Israeli strike, alongside his wife, daughters and one of his son-in-law, a family member, Ahmed Al-Sultan, told AFP.
His body was taken to the Al-Chifa hospital, the director of this establishment told AFP Mohammed Abu Salmiya. “His face was unrecognizable, we were barely identified,” he added.
“The murder of Dr. Marouane Al-Sultan and his family is a blatant violation of humanitarian principles and an act of a serious injustice that must be sanctioned,” the Indonesian NGO MEDICAL Emergency Rescue Committee, which opened the Indonesian hospital in a statement.
Hamas condemned a “horrible crime” in a statement published shortly after the announcement by the Civil Defense of Gaza of a first assessment of seven dead, including the doctor, in an Israeli strike in the early afternoon.
As usual, the Israeli army claimed to have “struck a key terrorist” from Hamas “in the Gaza-Ville zone” on Wednesday, without more precision.
