The firefighters of the Geneva Fire and Rescue Service (SIS) intervened on Tuesday evening, to extinguish a fire that had declared itself in the attic of a villa in Chancy (GE). Residents had evacuated the house before the arrival of the help. No one was injured.
(Keystone-ATS) The disaster was mastered thanks to the commitment of three hand spears and a cannon lance installed on the car, said the SIS on Wednesday in a press release. The villa has undergone “important damage”. The intervention ended shortly before midnight.
In total, 22 professional firefighters intervened with six devices. They were supported by volunteer firefighters from the town of Chancy and by the cantonal police.
It is very trying for firefighters to intervene on a fire in scorching episodes, as is the case currently, notes the SIS. A health support system had therefore been deployed to allow firefighters to cool off and recover.
