Air Canada labor conflict: an arbitration proposal rejected by on -board agents

The union representing Air Canada on Tuesday refused an arbitration proposal from the airline.

In a message to its members published on Tuesday, the Canadian Public Service Syndicate (SCFP), Air Canada Division, said that this proposal was aimed, according to him, to “preserve an operating system” and to “withdraw democratic voice” from on -board agents.

The employers’ part, Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge, pleaded, in a letter in English sent to the president of the union on Monday, that “an experienced arbiter will be able to quickly understand our respective positions and either assist us to arrive at an agreement through mediation, or make a fair decision”.

The union said, for its part, that it considers that “the most effective way to reach a fair and fair collective agreement must be done through direct and continuous negotiations between the supported parties, if necessary, by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service”.

Air Canada on Monday, silent demonstrations at several airports in the country on Monday.

In particular, they claim the end of unpaid labor as well as a “real salary increase taking into account the cost of living”.
