Air Canada resumes its flights after the government’s intervention to stop the strike

The social movement of the navigating staff has led to several hundred flight cancellations and assigned more than 130,000 passengers per day.

Air Canada announced the gradual resumption of its flights on Sunday, after the government’s intervention to end the 10,000 hostesses and stewards strike the day before and which paralyzes the activities of the country’s largest airline. The Canadian Industrial Relations Council (CCRI) “Ordered Air Canada to resume its activities and all Air Canada and Red Air Canada and Air Canada Air Canada, editor’s note) to resume their duties before 2:00 p.m. EDT (6:00 p.m. GMT) on August 17, 2025”Air Canada said in a statement.

The airline provides for a gradual recovery of its flights from Sunday evening. However, it will take several days before its activity returned to normal, certain flights being still likely to be canceled over the next seven days, she warned. The Canadian Public Service Syndicate (SCFP), which represents them, had warned that its members are pursuing the strike until the government forced them to resume work. In addition to wage increases, the union’s claims concern unpaid ground work, according to him, especially during shipments.
