The Canadian Council for Industrial Relations (CCRI) has decided: the 10,000 Air Canada on -board strike is illegal.
The organization has ordered the Canadian Public Service Syndicate (SCFP), which represents on -board agents, immediately ending the ranging and demanding the return to work of its members.
In a decision rendered on August 17, the CCI considered that the strike launched and authorized by the union management had no legal basis. The union must therefore publicly revoke its call to strike, in particular by press release on its website, before noon on August 18.
“The union and its leaders must immediately cease any activity declaring or authorizing an illegal strike and direct their members to resume their functions, is it indicated in the decision of which the Journal obtained a copy. On -board officers are also ordered to end the movement and resume work without delay. »»
This decision comes as the conflict has paralyzed Air Canada and Red Air Canada activities since August 16. According to the airline, around 500,000 passengers saw their flight canceled due to the strike.
It should be noted, Air Canada loses $ 60 million in income per day according to a report by the National Bank.
Air Canada claims to regret the inconvenience suffered by its customers and provides working on a return to service “as quickly as possible”. Travelers can consult the company’s website to find out the options available.
