Air hostesses and stewards file a complaint against the aeronautical manufacturer

During a flight from the Alaska Airlines company in the United States in January 2024, the left-wing left door of a 737 MAX 9 detached from the cabin in full flight, causing the depressurization of the aircraft.

Almost a year and a half after the incident that went around the world, four air hostesses and stewards on board 1282 Alaska Airlines, whose door cap detached in January 2024, announced that they had complained against Boeing for “Physical and mental injuries”.

“Courage” of the hostesses

Their lawyer Tracy Brameier praised the «courage» of the four crew members with ABC News. “They followed the instructions to the letter by giving priority to passengers, despite their fears for their own lives. They deserve total compensation for this traumatic and overwhelming experience, caused by the negligence of Boeing in the production process of the 737 max. ” Questioned by the American press, the American aeronautical giant declined all requests for comments on this file.

At the beginning of February 2024, one month after the incident, a preliminary report, overwhelming for the aeronautical giant, had been published: the absence of wear or deformation at certain locations indicated that “Four bolts planned to prevent the cork holder from moving up were missing before it moves”. The report pointed out writings and photos showing that Boeing employees had removed these bolts during an inspection at its Renton assembly plant (northwest).

The flight incident 1282 made a magnifying glass on quality problems at Boeing, affecting three of its four families of commercial aircraft (737, 787 Dreamliner, 777). He resulted in audits and surveys (police, justice, congress), put under increased surveillance by regulators, renewal of the management team and reopening of the penal file linked to Crashes of 2018 and 2019 (346 dead).
