All Blacks – France (29-19): for Léo Barré, a very black summer tour

Precious during his few appearances, whether against Argentina in November or against Italy during the Six Nations tournament, he had kept a good side in Marcoussis, and was the only Parisian called for the summer tour. But his sixty minutes disputed on Saturday in Hamilton turned into a nightmare for the last blue rampart, a position where each error is seen.

While the XV of France leads 10-0, it is faulty on the test of Will Jordan, who takes advantage of a flaw in the French cover to catch a ball over the defense well dosed by his opener Damian McKenzie between Léo Barré and the winger Théo Attissogbe.

Several times, Barré has also crammed the all -black razing balloons, struggling to take them back in the right timing. He or his partners have repeated the situation several times, as in the 12th and 43rd minutes. But at the time of play, a new one of his hesitations was too much: the ball was put back by the New Zealand winger Sevu Reece and Du’Plessis Kirifi, well placed, gave his own for the first time in the match (22-19). Léo Barré was in the process replaced by Émilien Gailleton, causing the sliding of Théo Attissogbe to the rear post.

Self -criticism

The match was like the tour, far from going as planned. Holder in the head of the coach Fabien Galkié from the first meeting of the international season, unofficial against revalled England, he was ultimately not victory in London due to a thigh in one of the last training.

His departure in New Zealand was reproduced, and finally delayed: he arrived a week after the rest of the group, with the finalists of the Top 14. He did not participate in the first match in Dunedin, lost 31-27, but had taken up the pace in training. Still on Saturday in Hamilton, his thigh was still well stranded, a month after his injury.

His return to the field in the second game in Wellington did not shot as he hoped, with some loss of harmful bullets and small balls over the imprecise defense. The player had made a courageous, and even severe self -criticism just after the match. “Me the first, I made individual mistakes that cost dearly on high balloons, on a small above counters. This is also what made we could not put our defense in place […] I am very frustrated. It’s normal, when we wear this jersey, you have to make it proud. I was not up to it. I missed it. It’s a summary of my season “

Words appreciated by Fabien Garthié who maintained his confidence on Saturday. “I find that it is exemplary. To assume a defeat in the France team is a form of honesty that we love very much, because it is rare that people are in charge. He is not responsible, any more than the others. Everyone can do better, and everyone knows. »»
